Due to its coastal location, the concrete structure of Residentie Westdiep is exposed to a harsh maritime environment. SANACON was commissioned to investigate the impact of the salty sea air on the concrete walls and balconies and to develop a long-term conservation strategy.
Our approach:
Chloride analysis: In-depth investigation of the penetration of chlorides (salts) into concrete, the main cause of reinforcement corrosion in coastal areas.
Corrosion diagnosis: Performing potential measurements to locate active corrosion foci, even in places where no visible damage is yet present.
Maintenance plan: Preparation of a technical advice for concrete repair and protective coatings to significantly extend the lifespan of the facades.
Results: The SANACON results provided the Owners’ Association (VME) with an objective picture of the maintenance needs. Our data-driven approach prevents unnecessary costs and guarantees a sustainable repair strategy for this apartment building.
