As part of the large-scale redevelopment of the historic Slachthuis site in Antwerp, SANACON was commissioned to provide specialized advice and design on concrete sustainability. The focus was on implementing innovative techniques to ensure the long-term structural integrity of the concrete structures.
Our approach:
Cathodic Protection (CP): Use of CP systems as a sustainable solution to actively stop reinforcement corrosion and prevent future damage .
Sustainability advice: Integration of electrochemical protection techniques within the site’s overall renovation strategy .
Technical Design: Preparation of the necessary technical specifications for a low-maintenance and future-proof concrete structure .
By choosing cathodic protection, the lifespan of the concrete structures is significantly extended without major destructive repairs. SANACON’s expertise thus contributes to the circular and sustainable preservation of this important urban renewal project in Antwerp.
